Morning routines have become a nightmare thanks to these overconsumption-obsessed influencers.
Cutting up $20 worth of fruit just to dunk your face in an ice bowl for 10 seconds, opening a fresh bottle of water for the same purpose. Face masks, hair bonnets, mouth tape, nasal openers, belly button plugs for castor oil, breast pillows to prevent wrinkles, endless supplements, and a lineup of overpriced face products. Every morning, it’s a new turmeric-ginger shot, a fresh bottle of green juice, and throwing away the rest of a banana just to use the peel as a scrub. Hair rollers under bonnets, minoxidil, derma rollers—it’s absurd.
What’s worse is the impact on teenagers who see these posts and feel like they need to keep up. These routines cost upwards of $100 a day, contribute to growing landfills with all the plastic waste, and are completely unnecessary. It’s not funny, it’s not aspirational, and it’s certainly not something anyone should strive for.
None of it even works. It’s all nonsense picked up online, promising to make you prettier or healthier—like mouth tape to stop breathing through your mouth so your skull doesn’t get deformed. Meanwhile, the people around them feel inadequate if they’re not doing the same. It’s wasteful, it’s harmful, and it’s downright disgusting. The sheer overconsumption makes me physically recoil.
