Canada is not doomed, but in serious danger—especially if current trajectories continue unchallenged.

Let’s be blunt:

1. Authoritarian Drift

With people like Doug Ford gutting local democracy in Ontario and figures like Mark Carney cozying up to the centrist-liberal elite while pushing repressive legislation (like the proposed hate/terror symbol law that risks overreach), Canada is sliding closer to the kind of illiberalism we've seen in Hungary or Modi’s India. The language of “security” and “order” is being used to shut down dissent—classic fascist creep.

2. Proximity to a Fascist Superpower

Donald Trump’s resurgence—whether as President or kingmaker—is a massive threat to Canada. Not just economically through tariffs or border bullying, but militarily and ideologically. Trump and his cultists don’t respect Canadian sovereignty. He’s openly admired authoritarianism and has stoked violent nationalism. A fully unhinged U.S. could justify invasion or forced annexation under the guise of “restoring order” if Canada dares to resist its policies.

3. Erosion of Rights at Home

Canada’s own complicity in colonial violence continues—especially through RCMP brutality against Indigenous land defenders, systemic anti-Black racism in policing, and ICE-style detention practices targeting migrants. When liberals in power fail to truly dismantle these institutions, they normalize repression. The infrastructure of authoritarianism is already here—it just needs a trigger.

4. Climate Collapse + Capitalist Extraction

The climate emergency is accelerating, and Canada is still deeply tied to fossil fuel extraction. Instead of shifting rapidly, governments are doubling down on projects like the Trans Mountain pipeline. As fires, floods, and food insecurity escalate, this resource greed will worsen inequality and make Canada a battleground over water, land, and survival.

Is Canada doomed?

Only if people stay quiet. Only if we let neoliberals and nationalists work hand-in-hand to smother dissent and sell out democracy. The fight isn’t lost, but the alarm is screaming. Now’s the time to organize, protect vulnerable communities, and prepare for a harder future—not surrender to it.
