CREATE YOUR OWN RANT

Ok, so my oldest keeps on attacking me every time I ask him to do literally anything. He's 7 and he's big for a 7 year old.

I try to adhere to a routine because kids love routines. Our bedtime routine is always go to the toilet, brush teeth, read story, go to bed, stay in bed.

One day about a week and a half ago, he didn't want to brush his teeth.

I always try go with the "gentle parenting approach" when it's feasible. I did everything I could to peacefully coach him to go to the bathroom to brush his teeth, he chose not to. I was blocking the door with my arms to get him to do the routine, which he saw as an opportunity to hang on my arm and physically fight/attack me.

I'm not weak, but when he's hanging on my arm the way he did, it felt like my arm was gonna pop out of its socket.

I didn't fight or hit back, I didn't scream at him, nothing like. All I did was wiggle my arm to free him off my body, and in doing so, he fell backwards. I felt awful. Didn't mean for that to happen. But what made it worse was how he then tried to say "DADDY SHOVED ME TO THE FLOOR"

My wife knows what happened, but still thinks I could have been gentler. I couldn't have been gentler if I tried.

And now as of late, when we're out in public he tries to say how I pushed or threw him. I know what happened and I'm not gonna let him try to make me out to be some sort of a child abuser. I'm not. I was gentle parenting and adhering to a schedule because that's what good parents do.
